Keyboarding & Creative Writing

It is very important that students feel comfortable typing their school assignments. It is also important for parents not to spend all their time typing their children's papers because every one becomes extremely frustrated.

Typing is a critical skill to learn. Every student should be given a solid foundation in typing fundamentals, home row keys, formatting personal-business letters, formatting tables with column heads and the overall knowledge of the keyboard and word-processing. Typing is important because it is applied to everything we do.

Do not procrastinate. The earlier your child is familiar with the keyboard the more productive, efficient, confident and competent student he/she will be. Remember that typing is less personally threatening to children than handwriting, resulting in positive attitudes toward learning to write.

Writing is an essential tool. Learn to write with power. Express your thoughts and ideas in an original and organized fashion. Explore the basic skills using Microsoft Word. Create and edit documents, work with tabs, tables, merging, margins, headers and footers.

Digital Design & Photography

The lessons using Photoshop will stimulate creativity and develop imagination without overwhelming students with technical information. The objective is to understand PhotoShop skills in the process of being creative in a stimulating and encouraging learning environment where individual imagination and resourcefulness will flourish. Learn about the selection tools, moving, copying and pasting selections, cloning, paint brush, layout and text tools. Learn the basics of layers, repairing damaged photos, correcting color, resolution, and troubleshooting your digital photos.

Web Design

We will use Adobe Go Live to develop and design web sites. Students will learn about navigation principles, online graphics, design layouts, and entering text.

IMovie and iDVD

Understand how to import video, work with clips and photos, add transitions, titles and effects, and learn how to add music and sound effects to your Movie. Then share this with your friends and family.

Internet Navigating and Research

Use the internet to search and find information for fun school projects, reports and presentations. Explore the Internet using age appropriate and safe websites. Learn research techniques, compressing and unstuffing files, creating PDFs, and understand file formats such as JPEG, GIF, TIFF, MPEG, MP3, etc.

ITunes & iPod

Homework Helpers

Learn to use Excel and PowerPoint to present reports and information in a clear, concise and professional way. Learn to make sophisticated presentations at school by formatting slideshows, videos, and including audio using Microsoft Powerpoint. Learn basic worksheet skills and techniques by importing data, applying formulas and formatting worksheets in Microsoft Excel. Also learn how to create charts and multiple worksheets.
