Many times you are not at your own computer when you want to recharge your iPod. To stop your iPod from automatically updating itself when you plug it into the computer, hold down Command+Option while you do so. You can let go when the iPod appears in the Source list.

To move backwards and forwards through a song while it is playing, use Command+Option plus the left and right arrows.

PhotoShop Lesson: Create Clipping Mask

The pictures that are associated with this lesson are the oranges and sweet potatoes. Download these images to your desktop and try this lesson.

1. Open PhotoShop. Go to File >New

2. Name the File “Picture Art.” Make sure that the size is 8.5 x 11 and that you have chosen inches and not pixels. The mode should be RGB and the resolution 200. Press the Enter/Return key or click on OK and you will have the window of the recently named file.

3. Go File>Open and open the picture of the oranges

4. Go back to the File Picture Art and go to Layer>New Layer. Click on the toolbar (T) text tool. On the options at the top of the window make the text size 92, foont Impact, color black and type in capital letters the word ORANGES. When you are finished typing the word ORANGES press the enter/return key.

5. Go to the picture of the oranges that you have previously opened. Click the marques tool that is in the uppper left hand corner of the toolbar. Click and drag the marques tool around the entire picture of the oranges. Go to Edit>Copy

6. Go back on the Picture Art file and go to Edit>Paste. Move the picture of the oranges on top of your text that says oranges. If the picture of the oranges is no big enough to place completely on top of the text, go to Edit>Free Transform and click and drag the picture of the oranges to make it bigger.

7. Go to Layer>Create Clipping Mask. The picture of the oranges will replace the black text.


8. Try this excerise with the following picture, potatoes.
